Evelia Taborda was born in Caracas Venezuela and studied the harp withs Cecilia de Majo before going to Europe where she studied at the Conservatoire Nationale de Paris, where she studied with Jacqueline Borot, obtaining the Premi�re prix and the Prix d’ Honneure Henriette Meunier. Further study with Bernard Zigh�ra at the New England Conservatory, Boston followed, where she obtained the Artist Diploma.

She has performed at the Fifth World Harp Congreso in Copenhagen, the World Harp Festval in Cardiff, 1994, the third and fourth "Encuentros Latinoamericanos de Arpa" in Caracas and Mexico.

At present Evelia Taborda is Solo harpist at the Filarm�nica Nacional, having previously held the same position at the Orquesta Sinf�nica Venezuela. She formed the "Grupo de C�mara Bellas Artes" with other leading venezuelan musicians, dedicated to the chamber music repertoire of the harp.

 

MARISELA GONZALEZ graduated from the Escuela Superior de M�sica Jos� �ngel Lamas with E. Taborda and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston with Bernard Zigh�ra . She has received several national and international awards.  Also, she has performed in various World Harp Congresses as well as in various Latin-American and Venezuelan events.

Marisela is well known for her valuable contributions in the creation, research and making known to the public the Latin-American repertoire for pedal harp. As a soloist, she has performed with many orchestras. She was executive director and founding member of the Venezuelan Harpist Association (ARPAS AC), Member of the Board of Directors of the World Harp Congress (1995-2001), and Harp Soloist of the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra until 2001. Currently, she holds a Professorship at the Sim�n Bol�var University.

The support Evelia Taborda and Marisela Gonz�lez give to composers from their own country is noteworthy and this concert is the first oportunity that American audience has of hearing some of their Works.
